Rules of Attraction
     This is a really intense book. It is a story of a boy named Carlos and a girl named Kiara. Carlos’s mom moved him to Colorado thinking that he might change because she has a suspicion that he is getting involved with drugs and gangs. Turns out Carlos was involved with the Guerreros del barrio, and he was making a lot of money, but the money is “dirty” money or also known as drug money. Alex, Carlos’s brother, was also involved with gangs. Alex was jumped out of the Latino Bloods, and is now questioning him.
     “Didn’t you learn anything from my mistakes?” asks Alex. Carlos was living with his brother but can’t anymore due to certain rules by the school. Carlos is forced into living with Kiara and her family which turns everything around for Carlos.  Kiara is the tomboy kind of girl that Carlos would never go for. She was his tour guide of the school and it also turns out she will be a close friend of Carlos’s.  Carlos was pushed into a gang in Colorado. Kiara’s dad will try everything to get Carlos out, but there might be nothing that he can do. Carlos gets badly hurt and is in the hospital for several days besides his brother, Kiara is also there right by his side. After, everything that happens with that he realizes that she might be the only one that he has on his side. Will he ever take her to be his girlfriend or forget about her and move on?
    The author of this book is Simone Elkeles which is the author of the other books which are: Perfect Chemistry and Chain Reaction. She is an exceptional writer and is very descriptive in her writing. I really like how she can take a bad situation and spin it in to a love story. There are a lot of memorable parts in this book ,and the one that I like the most is were Carlos gets helped by everyone  to  get him out of the gang and how he ends up marrying the love of his life. The other part was when Carlos told Kiara’s brother to stop playing this game which was related to gangs and that he told the little boy to stop playing the game but he didn’t listen to him.
   This book by far is the best book that I have ever read; the first book and the last book are really great books too you should read then along with the rest of them. After reading the first two, I had to continue reading until I finished the entire trilogy. All the books are connected in some way. I would recommend that you read all these books because you will get hooked and caught up in their love stories. Simon Elkeles is a great author, I just wish there was more of her work out there. If you like drama, intensity and love, you’ll truly enjoy these books. I would highly recommend that you read all these books!
