I read The Boy on the Wooden Box  by Leon Leyson.  I really enjoyed reading this book . There wasn’t a dull moment. Every chapter was better than the last.  I would even read this book again , and I usually don’t say that.

This book is an autobiography about a young jewish boy,Leon,and his experience living in a part of poland that got taken over during WW11. It starts at the beginning of Hitler’s reign of terror. Then it takes you through the worst of it.It talks about the segragation of Jews ,all the new laws, and it Talks about the terrible conditions in the ghetto. He explains the deep hunger he faced in the ghetto and the many different concentration camps . It explains the grueling living conditions and constant labor at the various camps. He tells about how lonely it was ,being separated from his family for so long . The author then tells of how he survived by the help of a very generous Nazi, Oskar Schindler. Her talks about how all that effected the rest of his life.

Through all of these tribulations you fall in “love” with all the characters, except the “bad guys” ,of course. The author gives you so much detail you start to feel like you’re there with Leon through his journey. Such as when Leon is describing the gruesome living conditions with little food and constant work. This book reminded me of another book I read Prisoner B-3087  by Alan Gratz. Both books described a young jewish boy's journey through the Holocaust. They shared many similarities , but they also had their differences such as Leon didn't go through quite as much as Yanek did. Leon died 5 months after he wrote the book ,  this is the only book ever written by him.

Overall this book was VERY well written, VERY interesting,and VERY fun to read.  I would recommend this book to people of all ages and genders who like  action packed books about true events.
