This novel was very interesting. I say interesting for 2 reasons. One is if you aren’t prepared for what’s to come it will be VERY surprising. It comes with many gruesome scenes. You will picture yourself as this boy, and see how tremendously fortunate you are. It will make you think about your life, and where you stand.

This story is about an abused boy.An abused boy with no way out of his mothers hands.  His mother has a disease that singles out one person to create havoc against them. Unfortunately that was was the author/main character, Dave Pelzer. Throughout the book Dave gets harassed and beaten. He is on the verge of life and death at this point. In the end however it all works out great, but you'll have to read the book to find out the actual ending.
"A Child Called "It" is the account of terrible abuse experienced by the author, Dave Pelzer, when he was a child.  Pelzer begins his story detailing the physical hits he is taking from his mother while doing dishes and contemplating on where he can acquire some food.  After finishing the dishes he is rewarded with the leftovers from one of his brother's cereal bowls.  When he arrives at school he finds social workers there who have to interview him, and he is removed from his home.  He has been rescued.

This book is an autobiography. It's a real story. Overall I loved the theme of this book and purpose. It opened my eyes to how fortunate I really am. To be fed and clothed and taken care of is a huge privilege. This book is a must read if you have the opportunity.

Overall this book is an amazing read and I definitely recommend it to the mature. I would also recommend to be aware of some of the scenes of this book as well . Finally, he was freed from his life and taken to a better life where he could be free from abuse.
