An Inspiring Story

"A Child Called IT" by Dave Pelzer was such a sad and brutal novel and I cried during every chapter. This book gave so much insight into what Dave had to suffer through as a child. The detail in this book was very vivid.

This book takes place in a neighborhood in Daly City California. In the beginning Dave has an amazing life full of love and family but as the book goes on Dave's life becomes a nightmare. His mom would beat him and lock him in the basement. She would starve him for days on end. His father who used to be an inspiration to Dave was nothing but an alcoholic coward. If the staff at his school wouldn't have noticed the poor condition his health was in he may have never made it out of that house alive.

I thought this book told the tragic story of Dave's life very well. This book kept me interested and guessing what his mother was going to do next. How ever at times I felt some parts were poorly written, but that doesn't change my opinion.

Overall I was pretty satisfied with this book. Every chapter left me wanting more and I couldn't put it down. I love watching how Dave grew stronger every day. This book was great and everyone should have a chance to read it.
