The Help is a book that is a page flipper for some but for others they don't understand the meaning of the book. You have to be age appropriate to fully understand it because it tells you about racism in the 1960's. At least she is trying to inform you about the 1960's racism problem whether you get it or not.
The Help is about a girl named Skeeter who goes to collage and comes home and her maid was different and she did not know what happened to her and she asked but no one told her then she finds out later. She wanted to be a writer when she came home also so she got a job at a newspaper. From there she decided to write a book about the maids and what kind of struggles they go through. A maid named Aibileen is the one who decided to help first but she wanted to do it in privacy so they do then she gets another maid named Minny to help her and they get more after that. When they finished it got published under anonymous and people started to see what the help as they were called went through.
I thought it was a decent book all together. It definitely has a age limit you have to be to understand it though. I was not the biggest fan of the book myself because I thought it was a slow pace book. I am just not the type of reader that likes historical fiction which is why I thought it was slow but if you like historical fiction then this book is for you.
In conclusion, it is a good book if you have the age and if you like historical fiction. It definitely informs you about the racism in the 1960's and the struggles they went through.
