Unbroken is a epic story about a man named Louie Zamperini. This is a very difficult book to read, and covers a hard time in history. This book focuses on an extraordinary mans struggles in a pow camp. The problems that Louie goes through are described constantly, and thats one of the things that make this book so hard. This is Laura Hillenbrand's best book ever.

The story starts in New York, although they soon move to California. Louie grew up being a huge trouble maker, but was cleaned up when his brother introduced him to track. He was automatically a gifted runner, and was soon a national celebrity. He shattered every record imaginable, and was son an olympic runner. After the olympics in Berlin he was drafted into ww2 as a bombarder.  He was hoping the Olympics in Japan would be his year to win but the war canceled that. At first Louie got very little combat action, but he was soon seeing tons of action. On one mission Louie crashed into the Pacific, and drifted for a very long time. He beat the record for drifting in a craft for the longest time. While stuck in the pacific he and his crew had almost no food, water, or anything to help them survive. Eventually they were captured by the Japanese and had to endure the pain of being a pow, which was a hard and awful experience.

I really loved this book. I thought Laura Hillenbrand did a a good job expressing the good and bad things Louie went through. By the end of the book i felt attached to Louie and the situation he was in. I did not want to put this book down.

I thought Unbroken was an excellent book and was very well written. I also think this is the best book Laura Hillenbrand has written. This book grabbed my attention at the start and never let go. I think that people of all ages should read this book.
