Dave Pelzer has written many books, including the unforgettable biography, A Child Called "It". This biography is told in first-person narration by Dave Pelzer, and takes place in Daly City, California, during the 1960's-1970's. It begins with Dave at a very young age thinking back to when times were better for him and his family, where everyone was together and happy. However, those times for Dave did not last long. Things changed and people changed. When Dave was only at the age of four, his mother became an alcoholic and began to beat him. She would take complete control over Dave and isolated him. He lived a life apart from his family and was trapped for many, lonely years of his life. The abuse inflicted by his mother included both physical and mental torture which is hard for the reader to imagine. Pelzer wrote the book with such intensity it is hard for the reader to disengage from the story as disturbing as to is.

After A Child Called "It" Dave Pelzer continued the amazing true story with The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave. Both of the following books describe his life after the abuse, and how he became the man he is today. I found A Child Called "It" very interesting. Dave Pelzer is a good author that can really grab your attention with a real life situation. I would recommend this book to someone mature enough to understand child abuse and the fact that it is happening every day across the world. This is a very intense story that can get quite emotional. I encourage others to read this book because it is an inspiring book for anyone and will definitely leave you thankful for the life you have.
