Paper Towns by John Green
I decided to read Paper Towns because I had seen previews of the movie. I’ve always liked to read the books instead of watching the movies. Books give you details and leave your imagination to do it’s own projection of what is happening in the book. Paper Towns is not the only book by John Greene, she wrote a book called The Fault in Our Stars. Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars were both made into movies.
Paper Towns is an easy to follow book. There were enough descriptions for me to be able to imagine the scenery, the people, and the atmosphere. I really enjoyed the part in the book where Quentin, Lacey, Radar, and Ben go on a roadtrip to find Margo Roth Spiegelman. They have under 24 hours to get to Margo before she runs off to a different city. While on their way a series of events happen that have me laughing. A few times throughout the book I would get bored and skim over a paragraph or so. You can feel Quentin’s disappointment at the end of the book because he says; “I stand in this parking lot, realizing that I’ve never been this far from home, and here is the girl I love and cannot follow ’’(page 304). You feel the goodbye coming.
I was somewhat disappointed when I finished the book. I feel like there was so much build up so much excitement towards the end for it to end that way. It is the first book I’ve read that is by John Green and overall it is a good book to read. If you want more of an exciting read I would not recommend it for you. It can get boring in the middle of it. I’d give it two out five stars.
