 Rise from the ashes.

I'll tell you about a book whose title is The immortal life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
This work is a novel. Moreover, This story is not a simple story, it invite us to reflect on the ethical, financial and social values of medical research.
This book was the first of the Unites state sales and was released in February 2nd, 2010.
The publisher is Broadway Paperback.

This is a story about black woman, she lived in U.S.A, in a era of racial segregation which start in XIX e century.
her cells were removed without agreement for medicals research.
She worked in the fields as her slaves ancestor. The scientist used a nicknamed "HeLa", to speak about her or her cells. She dies of cancer in 1951 when she was 31.
But without knowing she contributed to the medicals advanced. Thanks to her cells we found a vaccine against lots of disease like Polio, the tumor, cloning, the gene therapy...etc.
In addition, through the life story of this woman the author also shows the hardness of the society at that time.

What I found striking is that the author had mix lot of important topics, that fit together.
Actually, Skloot uses the scientific side while referring to the era of racial segregation and there she describes the awful conditions of life that  had black people. She show us this poverty, starveling, this persecution of these poor people. This book is a source of in formations and this woman, Henrietta, is mouving.

Her fate was so sad.

However, despite of the good side of the book there are also bad.

The story was probably educative but also flat... as a rule.
I think that this story has lack of twists and it's difficult to follow. I liked the dimension the segregation and explanantion of the lifes of people at that time. But I was rather bored by scientific explications.

As a conclusion, this book is not bad  but is not a book where I was completely taken in.
