“Fire is catching and if we burn, you burn with us!” Determined Katniss Everdeen said this while filming a propaganda, showing the destruction caused by President Snow. In Mockingjay things are very hazy and challenging for Katniss. She leads the rebellion, fights to keep her family safe, and struggles to retrieve Peeta from the vicious Capitol. She is tired of the endless pain and torture. The movie and the book were very similar, I loved them both! Although if I had to pick the one I liked better, it would be the book.

I instantly fell in love with both the book and the movie, but to me the book was a little better. It had more details and you got to finish the whole story without having to wait for part 2. While I was reading I could vividly see what was happening in my mind. One event that was instilled into my mind was when Katniss found the rose President Snow left her. I could see Katniss’s skin getting pale and sick. The author used a lot of figurative language and descriptive words. I never wanted to put down the book.

The movie had positive things too. The directors of The Hunger Games trilogy chose great actors and actresses to portray the characters and bring the movie to life. In the movie there were scenes added in that were not from the book. One thing that was added was the complete rescue mission of the tributes in the Capitol. Another event is when the dam broke and the whole Capitol’s power went out. I feel that the directors and producers added these scenes to create more intensity. They also took out events, like the rescuing of the prep team. I feel that the directors chose a good ending spot. This is because it left us wanting more for Mockingjay Part 2. I can’t wait for that to come out!

Overall the book and the movie were amazing and I had a great time reading and watching Mockingjay. I think I liked the book more because I got to picture it in my head and made my own thoughts instead of seeing it visually. I recommend that you read the book first so you are mentally and emotionally prepared for the movie, like I was. Make sure you really understand the book so you can make connections while watching the movie. I had to reread some parts of the book because I was a little confused; you should do this if you get lost. I hope you read the book and watch the movie and love it as much as I did!
