The book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is about a poor Indian that transferred to a wealthy all white school.  "It sucks to be poor, and it sucks to feel that you somehow deserve to be poor. You start believing that you're poor because you're stupid and ugly.......... It's an ugly circle and there's nothing you can do about it." This is my favorite quote in the book because it made me pissed off.
This story is about a poor indian boy, Arnold “Junior” who was born with water on the brain (too much spinal fluid on his skull), has few friends, and gets verbally and physically bullied. He left his reservation to do something with his life. This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster in his head and through his thoughts about anything and everything. It will take you  from thoughts of his best friend to girls and how he loves them. This story will make you cry and laugh even more. So, dont forget tissues!

I personally liked this book because it showed how kids can change their mind set from thinking they are worthless to knowing that they can do anything they put their mind to. “And I couldn't make fun of her for that dream. It was my dream, too. And Indian boys weren't supposed to dream like that. And white girls from small towns weren't supposed to dream big, either”

Although this is not something I would normally read, I strongly recommend it because I just couldn't put it down; between the jokes and the little drawings this was an easy read.I was obsessed with it, I even talked about it to my boyfriend. When you read this story of Arnold you  feel like a real teenage boy is writing it. I feel this book is for mature audiences because as a teen boy things in his oversized head get very graphic. He’s a teen boy! He has a “dirty”  mind. This story will open your mind to a lot of things, like poverty, racism, and how wrong stereotypes are/ can be. So if you’re looking for a good and easy read and you’re ready to laugh and cry your heart out, go and get yourself a copy of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian .
