Treasure Island is about a boy named Jim Hawkins who lives at his parents’ inn, in the 18th century. A sea captain named Billy Bone arrived at their inn who later died after being presented with the black spot by a blind man. “He was plainly blind, for he tapped before him with a stick, and wore a great green shade over his eyes and nose; and he was hunched, as if with age or weakness, and wore a huge old tattered sea cloak with a hood, that made him appear positively deformed. I never saw in my life a more dreadful-looking figure” (pg. 28- 29). They looked inside his old chest and found a map. At that same time the blind man with a crew came to steal the map, so Jim and the soldiers that escorted him went to Doctor Livesey. Jim and Livesey realized that it was the map to Treasure Island, an island owned by a well-known pirate that is full of his treasure, so they got the best crew and a ship called the Hispaniola chosen by the king and sailed off. The main characters are Jim Hawkins, Billy Bones, Black Dog, Squire Trelawney, Dr. Livesey, Captain Smollett, Long John, Ben Gunn, Pew, Israel Hands, and Tom Redruth. Very few of these listed helped while most of the names like Long John are the pirates that committed mutiny to get to the Island. When Jim hears about the pirates plan of mutiny he tells the captain, so they try to figure out a way to avoid this. When the pirates sailed towards the Island Jim sneaked on the boat, and he runs away when they got to land.in the middle of running he meets Ben Gunn. Ben has been there since he was left there by Flint the pirates’ crew that owned that island. Long John took Jim as hostage, and when he got back the men gave him a black spot to depose him. In desperate need of control he showed them the map to appease them; accordingly, they went to the treasure site and found nothing there. Then they realized Ben had discovered the treasure and took it to his cave. After three days of taking the treasure to the ship they went sailing home; meanwhile, during the voyage Long John took an amount of loot and sailed off secretly in the night.
The things we have in common are that we both had someone lost in our life, and it was devastating in our experience. He had challenges he has to face that he would not encounter in his everyday life. He had been on adventure over the seas like I did a while ago. My favorite part was when they discovered the treasure map. My least favorite part is when they discovered the pirates.
I wish I could change the ending in the book, so that it could have ended better. This was one of my favorite books, and I recommend this book for people to read this novel. This book would be for people who like action and mystery novels.
