THE LOST HERO
The lost hero/Rick Riordan
Disney-Hyperion, 2012, 553 pp.
Fantasy

Jason wakes up on a bus with no memory and doesn’t know anything but his name. Piper, his girlfriend, seems to know him pretty well and claims that she has known him for a long time. Leo, his best friend, says they have been best friends ever since they met each other, but Jason doesn’t remember any of that.

Leo Valdez has an ability he has never shared with anyone. Several times he finds himself wondering if he should tell his friends. He finds and repairs something nobody would have expected that ends up becoming something very close to Leo’s heart. Piper McLean has a big secret. She has only told two her best friends about her family. She doesn’t want people to treat her differently because of her family. Jason Grace has no idea where he came from. He only knows that he waked up on a bus with a girlfriend named Piper and a best friend named Leo. The book the lost hero has a lot of excitement as Jason, Piper, and Leo make their way across the country to accomplish a very important task. There can be lot of suspense and surprises as they travel. This book has an exciting feel as they meet new characters and creatures. The lost hero might have a fun feel for people who like adventure, action, and a little mystery. When the three kids are saved and taken to the only place safe for their kind camp- half blood, they find out more about who they are and how important they are. They have a lot of encounters with people like wind gods, a gold man, and some creatures that would scare the life out of any human being.

The lost hero switches sides of the story between the three characters. The author wrote the book in third person. The writing in this book has an easy read but very fun. The author has a good way of describing the book. The author has written several books about Greek mythology and seems very good at writing it. I love this book because it becomes very interesting. I found this book most interesting. I found myself more drawn to reading it and I never wanted to put it down. I would recommend this book to elementary and middle school kids because I think that they would understand it a lot and enjoy this read.

I really love the book. I think anybody who likes books with action and adventure would enjoy this book and series. Rick Riordan and his writing for this book impressed me. I think that the reader would love this book and continue the series if they like the lost hero.
