Before I read the The Red Headed Princess I thought all princess books were boring and nothing happened in them.  The Red Headed Princess showed me how wrong I was. The Red Headed Princess is a historical fiction book about the early life of Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603).
This book weaves actual events in Elizabeth’s life together with fiction.  The Red Headed Princess starts off with Elizabeth’s trust for no one, even when she wants to.  She never wants to marry, especially after seeing all of her father’s failures.  When her father King Henry VIII dies, she finds herself a royal orphen.  Now that she’s second in line for the throne, she really has to watch her back.
The Red Headed Princess is a great book. The plot keeps you on your toes and there are cliffhangers everywhere. Like when she just found out that Sir Thomas wanted to marry her.  Even though there hint of old english I had no problem understanding the story.  Finally, Ann Rinaldi paints a well detailed picture in your head. The characters were very real and detailed.
All in all,The Red Headed Princess is a marvelous book and I highly recommend reading it.
