Try to find a great novel to read? Well,  What Happened to Goodbye is an outstanding novel written a New York Times Bestselling Author, Sarah Dessen. This novel is about a teenage girl, Mclean Sweet, who moves to many places with her father after her parents divorce. Mclean has different identities and personalities covering up her true self. But maybe a new town that was different form all the others could help Mclean be herself for once. Mclean's dad, a restaurant consultant, and Mclean have moved to four towns in two years because of her parents devastating and tragic divorce. Keeping a distance from her mother and her mothers new family, Mclean decides to create a new identity, name, and person for each town. She has a hard time getting along with her mom and to getting close to new people. Now as she landed in a new town with a super cute neighbor, Dave, will she finally be herself?

I recommend this book to read because it's very well written, unique, interesting, and once you start reading it, it'll be hard to stop! I only recommend this book for ages 13-18 because of language, violence, and more. This novel is more for young adults and teenagers. The book's words and plot are a little tricky and difficult, but very understanding.

The author's voice of style ford into being an emotional, romantic teenage love story. The emotions of many brings lifts the book. In my opinion, the entire book is pretty much based around the emotions and feelings. The tone is more soft and sappy to the voice of the reader. She give a life lesson and problems that teenagers face in their lifetime.

The story is a little difficult, but easy to understand and it is well organized. In the novel, there are many surprise and plot twists that will definitely keep you interested. The main and minor characters are realistic and believable and they fit in the story well. I can't relate, but surely many teenagers or young adults can relate to the characters very accurately. The resolution of the book wasn't as good and satisfying as I thought it would be. There were lessons in this book that I realized helped me a lot. Some of the main characters are Mclean, Deb, Riley, Heather, Opal, Katie Sweet, and Mr.Sweet. This setting takes place in many locations in a small town called Lakeview in the present.

Overall, What Happened to Goodbye is a wonderful book. Unfortunately, it isn't as great and similar to the other book she has written. I would certainly suggest this book to my friends and classmates! My thoughts are that it didn't really stand out as much as her other books and it wasn't as fun to read. A good thing is that the conflict, characters, and plot all felt realistic. I'm also recommending this book if you like teen romance. I enjoyed reading this novel and I hope you do too.
