"If people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane." Looking for Alaska is a realist fiction. The author of this book is John Green. This novel is a contemporary young adult book.

The plot was not only one twist, which happens to be very tragic, but many. John Green really understands teenagers. He really made the characters believable. Miles is from Florida and moves to Alabama to attend the same boarding school his father went to when he was younger. He ends up meeting three of his best friends: Alaska Young, the Colonel, and Takumi. He also gets his first girlfriend named Lara Buterskaya. Most people might think John Green is predictable. However, this novel was very unique. Like all his books, there is a lesson and that lesson is that life is always unexpected and you'll never know how much time you have left with someone.

Miles, also known as "Pudge", is a very shy, laid back guy. Later in the book, Miles has feelings for Alaska Young, who has a boyfriend. She leads him on and flirts with him and even kisses him. Alaska loves to pull pranks, and even pranks that are dangerous. Miles, the Colonel, and Takumi love pulling pranks on their worst enemies; the Weekday Warriors.

This novel was probably made for young adults. Although it teaches a very important lesson, some of it is explicit and graphic. It was probably written for mature readers. It might also be challenging for the younger audience. This book would be interesting for people who like realistic fiction.

Looking for Alaska is different from John Green's other books. It's one of the best novels I've ever read. While most people love it, it may be difficult for others. You won't be able to put this book down. I really enjoyed Looking for Alaska.
