The Fault in Our Stars

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep:slowly, and then all at once." It is the same way with the Fault in Our Stars. Star crossed lovers Hazel and Gus, who both have a cancer gene, ride a thrilling roller coaster called life. As the ups and downs occur, they grow stronger together, by each others side. I recommend this to all eighth graders and those who are in for a great book. With John Greens use of descriptive language, he can make you fall in love instantly.

The Fault in Our Stars is about Hazel and Gus, who meet at a cancer support group. If you don't believe in love at first sight, you will soon change your perspective on it, because it is right here in  the Fault in Our Stars. Their friendship grew stronger until the point where they were more then friends. Time goes by as the love expands between Hazel and Gus. Hazel's favorite book by her favorite author who she is longing to meet, or even get a response to her emails, comes up in conversation between the two. Sadly,  he lives all the way in Amsterdam in order for them to meet him. Plus, Hazel already used her wish from the Make-a-Wish foundation to go to Disneyland. Lucky for them though, Gus on the other hand, has not. On there trip to Amsterdam, they come across good and bad events. Some in which make you flood yourself in tears.

I would say John Green meant for this book to be for a selection of teens, young adults, and maybe adults in general, but due to his strong use of not only descriptive, but inappropriate language, younger children may not find it exciting like others who are older may.

John Green has written many other books other than The Fault in Our Stars which also can get emotional because I think that his mindset is based around emotion and making the reader have real feelings. The morals of this story are important and relatable which is what every book should include. As the book continues, you realize that life is short and that you should spend your time having fun, rather than worrying about the little things. You can just imagine what it would be like to know you have a more limited time to live then others. You would spend every second like it's your last, because for all we know, it could be.

All in all, I really enjoyed the Fault in Our Stars and I do recommend it to those who are looking for a great read. It is very interesting and unlike other books, I wouldn't mind reading it again.
