Over the summer I read the science fiction book, Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins. It’s the third book of Suzanne Collin’s Hunger Games series. Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has once again survived the hunger games, but nothing is the same. Everything in her home district is burnt down to ashes. Katniss, her family, and Gale now live in the believed to be destroyed district 13, but unfortunately Peeta is being held hostage in the capitol. A revolution is beginning. Katniss is the leader, the mockingjay, of the rebellion. The rebellion’s success depends on Katniss’s ability to accept responsibility for countless lives lost and her willingness to be a pawn in a game whose rules are not fair. In the end the course of Panem’s future should change, but in order to do this she must put all her feelings of distrust and anger to the side. Katniss must become the Mockingjay of the rebellion no matter what the cost is. Even though the games are over she feels as if she’s still a pawn in the games.

The author of this book, Suzanne Collins, is the author of the Underland Chronicles series, which started with Gregor the Overlander. The Underland Chronicles is a best seller. Suzanne’s first two hunger game books, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, were New York Times bestsellers. These books also received world wide praise and many starred reviews. Suzanne Collins lives in Connecticut with her family.

Mockingjay’s suspense makes you want to keep on reading. This book is a good read that can be finished quickly, so it’s good to read on the road or on a trip. Also, it’s a good way to find out how the hunger games ends before the movie comes out. Then you can see if the book is better than the movie or if the movie is better than the book. If you like action and adventure then Mockingjay is the book to read, so get Mockingjay and find out what happens to the Everdeens, Gale, and Peeta.
