The book Wonder is an amazingly sincere book about taking risks and making friends. This significant story of realistic fiction to me is one of the best books I have ever read. Reading this book makes you feel like you're a part of it. Connections I can make to the story are everywhere. As I am reading I notice that this boy from the story is just like any regular kid that wants to have normal childhood. This book is truly inspiring.

The wonderful heartfelt book by R.J Palacio is about a boy who is struggling to be seen as an ordinary child who just wants to grow up normally. This boys name is August, he has a face deformity. He has had many surgeries and due to the way he was born, August doesn’t look like any normal fifth grader. August says, “I won’t describe what I look like, but whatever you're thinking, its probably worse.” He’s never been to school before and has never really had friends. August’s family supports him 100% about his decisions but his family isn’t so sure about sending him to school. Since he appears to be different his family and him are afraid of his peers reactions to his face. August figures he is used to the stares and looks so he decided he is ready to go. He takes a tour of Beecher Prep- a private school in manhattan he might decide to attend. While on the tour he meets some nice kids that show him around. When the tour of the school is over August decides to go to the Manhattan school knowing what he was up against. He goes to school everyday where he is taunted and teased. Throughout the story, you get to see different point of views of Augusts life from contrasting characters in the novel.

When I finished this book I was left upset because it was over. The novel was absolutely encouraging. It motivated me to not judge people by the way they looked. I would certainly recommend this book for anyone that is looking for a sublime story that will create a new perspective of life and inspire you to take a risk, and Wonder.
