The Scorch Trials by James Dashner is a great dystopian novel, but if you haven't read the first book in the series, The Maze Runner, this book would make a lot more sense in some parts of the book if you have read it. The main character, Thomas, is a very interesting character because he can be timid and scared one minute and brave and bold the next. There are also other characters in the book called the Gladers. Gladers are Thomas’s friends who were in the Maze with him the whole time.
Thomas and the Gladers had just gotten out of the Maze and have been dropped of a building in a large city because they have nowhere else to go. As they go into the building they notice that the city is not filled with people like an ordinary one. In the building, there are some interesting things that go on in the beginning of the book . Without saying or giving away too much about the book, there is a mission that Thomas and the other Gladers have to complete in order to survive.
I would give this book a 4-5 star rating mainly because it grabbed my attention from the beginning, there was a great plot to the story and the characters all have their own unique personalities that make them fit into the book and play an important role in their own way throughout the book. What I didn't like about this book was that there were too many parts that were relaxed and there wasn't too much action going on. Although this was a great book, I liked The Maze Runner a bit more than this book just because I think that the first book had a more interesting plot and there was always a twist involved that changed the outcome of the books ending. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes science-fiction and I hope that when you read this book you like it as much as I did!
