The book I read was True Legend by Mike Lupica. The genre of this book is a realistic fiction and about basketball with a little mystery. I rate this book a four and a half stars out of five because it was a really great book it just wasn’t perfect. I would recommend this book to people that like basketball because that’s what it’s mainly about.
In the book there is a guy and his name is Drew Robinson but his nickname is True and he’s one of the best high school basketball players in the nation. One night when Drew was at the local park he saw a guy that was doing amazing tricks and sweet dunks and making all these cool shots and Drew thought it was a ghost. A couple nights later Drew sees him again but actually talks to him and the guy tells him his name is Donald. That night Drew and his friend Lee try to figure out who this “Donald” guy is and they figure out he was a high school basketball star just like Drew, but they also figure out that he did drugs and cheated at school and Drew gets scared because Donald says you're just like me so Drew got worried because he wanted to go all the way to the NBA. Also Drew is having some girl problems because he really likes this one girl the star of the girls basketball team. So if you want to see what happens you should read True Legend. The book has a lot more to it but I didn’t want to spoil it.
Mike Lupica did a great job to hook you and make it a page turner. He explains the importance of school and basketball throughout the book and delivers a good message to the reader. If you like reading Mike Lupica’s books then you would love this one.
