Imagine what it would be like to be in a gang and live in a bad neighborhood. You're always on the run and there is always a fight about to occur. That's how Ponyboy and the greasers live everyday. Sometimes life seems fun when they hang out with friends but at any second something bad could happen. All of the greasers have experienced this lifestyle.

Ponyboy Curtis is a 14-year old boy who is in the gang, the Greasers, and his best friends are all in it too. He is a good kid in school, one of the only good students in the gang, and he gets very good grades. His friends Johnny, Dallas, Two-bit and Steve are his best friends in the gang. He has his brothers Darry and Soda pop who are also greasers. They always have gang fights with there rival gang, the Socs. Some of the fights get extremely violent. When Ponyboy and Johnny go to the drive-in movies and meet these girls and start to talk to them. The girl's names were Cherry and Marcia. They become friends but eventually Ponyboy and Johnny figure out that both Cherry and Marcia go out with Socs named Bob and Randy. When Bob and Randy figure out that Cherry and Marcia were hanging out with greasers, they went to go take down those greasers. Bob and Randy and some other socs go to fight Ponyboy and Johnny. Something happens at that fight that will change both Ponyboy and Johnny forever.

The Outsiders is a book that shows how friends will always have your back where you're in need and that no matter what happens, they will keep moving on. I like this book because it includes sadness, action and has a great plot that will keep you interested the entire time.
