The Fault in our Stars, a novel written by John green, was published on January 10, 2012. This book is about two young adults that both have a serious sickness. But as they begin to become friends their feelings for each other become strong. Hazel Grace Lancaster is a girl that has Thyroid cancer with metastasis forming in her lungs, but does not really feel sorry for herself. She does not talk about her illness in lurid, self-pitying detail at all; instead, she tackles it with a healthy dose of humor. What she likes may be sitting around and watching reality TV shows with her parents. Augustus Waters, who also has cancer, is a young hot boy who only has one real leg and the other is not. He is quite the charmer, and has quick will to back it all up, too. When Hazel Grace says “why are you staring at me like that”, he says “ because you're beautiful” (80-90). He is a charmer at that moment. Hazel and Augustus met at a support group.
They first started their relationship with a steamy staring contest. In that same day they met, Augustus invited Hazel to watch a movie. Their friendship grew bigger after their first time hanging out. They were always there for each other, if they needed help or if one of them were in the hospital. Their relationship is special, even though they are both sick, but that does not stop them to live life. They run into a dilemma where they are trying to convince Hazel's mom to let her go to Amsterdam to meet her favorite author or when Augustus tried to go to the store himself while being very sick. They both ended up very negative. Her favorite author, Peter Van Houten, was not the type of man they expected to be. Augustus’s accident at the gas station was serious, that he ended up in the hospital. He knew at that moment his time was up.
In my opinion, The Fault in our Stars was spectacular because reading about how two teens relationship grew stronger was interesting to read. My favorite part were their short phone calls they would have because Augustus always had something charming to say. One of my least favorite parts was at the airport when everybody was staring at them just because they looked different than all the other people. One part i would have wanted to be better was the ending of the book.
Since i really love this book i would recommend this book to another person. The type of person i would recommend this book is to a teen with a heart because while reading they would be laughing and crying, and that's what makes the book special.
