The “Half-Blood” that Rick Riordan writes in his new exciting novel is not really someone that has Half Blood and Half something else in their body. It’s a type of person that is in between human and God. Half Bloods were made from a god having a baby with a human. Half Bloods can actually be more powerful than Gods. The Son of Neptune like many of the other books from Rick Riordan describes one thing to me. This is a very important key in teenage life. No matter how close you are to death and how many dangers are in front of you, don’t give up, this is life.

There are many themes in the fiction series “Heroes of Olympus”, but if you look through the perspective of a teenager that is going through all of this, you will understand what Rick is trying to say. Since Percy always has so many quests that involves him almost dying, we can definitely relate to the theme that teenagers should not give up in life. In fact, Percy has never given up due to what danger may be in front of him. The author writes this to give teenagers today a role model.
Though Percy is not realistic enough in this novel, it is really thrilling to read stuff about someone in danger. The reason that I say Percy is not realistic enough is because I would never be so calm when dealing with so many dangers at the same time.
It is the same with everyone, if you wake up out of nowhere and can’t remember what is happening in life, what would you do? The “Heroes of Olympus” is a series that is similar to the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series but also adds in another medieval culture, the Romans. Riordan once again writes a book about Percy Jackson and his heroic figure. This time Percy doesn’t remember a thing except his own name and his girlfriend Annabeth. The vision of Annabeth in his mind is even fading now.
This classic lets Percy gain two Roman friends: Hazel and Frank. Percy Jackson is once again in a challenge where he is in an unknown place to himself. In this 2nd novel of the series “Heroes of Olympus”, Percy Jackson meets two other Roman friends who will be partnering up with him to complete a quest that will make their enemies actually die.
This piece of literature is surprising and thrilling as Percy meets a group of different people that share a different culture than his from Camp Half Blood. This book gives us an extra sense of the Chinese tradition. Frank, being the race of Chinese reminds himself memories of being with his grandmother that is Chinese. This book does lack some Greek tradition that Camp Half Blood does but the Roman Tradition makes up for it. Through this novel I do learn some basics of the Roman culture rather than the Greek culture.
Riordan many times does foreshadow what will later happen in the book. Even the cover shows a lot of what will be happening in this Book two. Though the only reason that this book is different compared to the Percy Jackson series is that it includes Roman culture.
Rick Riordan is an author that enjoyed reading about Greek mythology during his teens. Because of this fact, he may have thought to use the idea of writing a fiction book including the Greek gods. His parents were both teachers and may have influenced him to write books. Riordan explains to us that he thought of the idea “Camp Half-Blood” when he was in college. In college, he had to work in Camp Capers every summer.
Some of Rick’s popular series include, The Heroes of Olympus, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and The Kane Chronicles. All of these three series have something in common. They are series that involves teenagers going on missions and Gods.
I recommend this fiction novel because it is easy to read for teenagers at any level. It gives teenagers a sense of what it’s like in love from the few couples in the story. In the end, it will just give everyone a feeling that Percy Jackson is the Hero. The overall ideas of Percy Jackson is not that different from children’s favorite Superman saving the day.
The Son of Neptune is a fantasy that involves heroic things from characters. This series has an interesting origin made for the characters. This book allowed me to identify that we should not give up life.
