My independent book title is called The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by Lyman Frank Baum. When I am reading my book I am always thinking the symbol for this book is of course a wizard. The reason I say a wizard not only is it because it has the name wizard in the title, but also there can be many different types of wizards ones that are nice and ones that are not nice. So when Dorothy is in the Land of Oz, she likes it but doesn’t like it at the same time. When Dorothy is happy that she is with wonderful things that help her get back to Kansas, but along the way she has many battles against her, so that is one big example of the witch being my symbol.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is all about how Dorothy is in a twister and that when the twister is over she ends up in “The Land of Oz.” Dorothy first meets the Witch of the North (the nice witch) that gives her thanks for killing the Wicked Witch of the East. Dorothy is very scared and tries to get to Oz because to get back to Kansas she must meet Oz. Along the yellow brick road arrives the scarecrow. The Scarecrow is a polite and very nice Scarecrow. Dorothy explains why she is going to Oz and the scarecrow wants to go because he wants a brain. With the Scarecrow they both end up at the Tinwoodman. The Tinwoodman is rusted and cannot move. They both help the Tinwoodman and they explain what they are doing. The Tinwoodman likes what they are doing and asks if he can join because he wants a heart. They all are on the yellow brick road and they end up meeting a lion. The lion is very fierce and starts to fight, but with a flick on the hand the lion stops fighting. The all become friends and start to go to Oz. They arrive at the castle and they all talk to Oz. He says to them that they must kill the Wicked Witch of the West before there wishes are granted. To shorten it up they kill the Witch and they all go back to Oz to tell them what they have done.

One “Can’t miss moment” is when Dorothy defeats the witch of the west. This is very crucial because instead of Dorothy physically pouring water on the witch, in the book Dorothy accidentally spills water on the witch. So that is very different than seeing it in the movie. Another “Can’t miss moment” is when they all defeat the witch and tell Oz the great and powerful. This is awesome because there are no more witches that anyone has to deal with where they have to be slaves for them and no one is torchered in the Land of Oz. So everyone is thrilled that they don’t have to deal with them ever again.

A fitting symbol that I would give this book is a diamond, because on a diamond there are four sides. Those four sides are straight which symbolizes the fine things in the story, but the four sharp, pointy edges on the diamond shows the bumps that they have to deal with along the way, and that is makes it harder to where they need to go.

The type of audience that would appeal to the adventurers side of people. Many times in this book you are on your own adventure. Following the adventure they are having it is like you are right next to the characters in the story.

I would give this book four stars. To me there were parts that drug, which were very boring in my opinion. But what really gave it the four stars was the action in the book, almost every page in the whole book has a heart pounding ,edge of your seat experience which I love in a book, because not only are you just reading a book you are in the book yourself doing everything that they are doing.
