”Boost”
Boost by Kathy Mackel is an inspirational book about a girl having a passion for basketball that was published in 2010.Kathy Mackel has written numerous books for young adults, and she also writes for films. She is a nationally certified coach for fast-pitch softball, so it is no surprise that her favorite novels are her sports books for girls. Growing up, she played varsity field hockey, basketball, softball, and volleyball, and she passed her love of sports on to her son and daughter at a young age. Their side yard became the neighborhood baseball field. Ms. Mackel lives in Massachusetts. The inspiration of this book is for people who love the game of basketball. The genre of this book is an inspirational book. The intended audience is young adults.

The main characters are Savvy who is 13 year old girl, six foot two, chance to play for elite senior basketball team called the fire and Callie who is savvy’s older sister, member of varsity cheerleading squad as a freshman. Savvy is a 13 year old who is six foot two who loves to play basketball and has a deadly three point shot. She has the chance to play on an elite basketball team called the Fire. There’s one problem that’s in her way, she gets pushed around the court by the older, stronger players. Callie who is Savvy’s older sister makes the varsity cheerleading squad as a freshman. But she finds out that she’s too heavy to be flier. As their doing well in school they come across a big obstacle in their journey. Both girls need to boost their games if they want to get off the bench and into the action.

I would recommend that you read this book if you love or have the passion to play basketball. I think that young teenagers who have the passion for basketball should read this. I think they will enjoy it because it tells you about having to avoid an obstacle in your way. In my opinion I think that any and every body could read this because it’s basically for anyone. My overall opinion of this article is very excellent.
