“ Your nose ignite, flameless Kerosene 9 and, some say Drano) laced with ephedrine, you want to cry, powdered demons bite through your cartilage and sinuses, take dead aim at your brain, jump inside, want to scream, troops of tapping feet fall into rhythm, marking time, right between your eyes, get the urge to dance, louder, louder, ultra grey-matter power, shock waves of energy mushrooms inside your head, you want to let go, detonate, annihilate barriers, bring down the walls, unleashed floodwaters, freeing long-captive dreams, to ride the current through arteries and capillaries, pulsing, rushing, raging torrents pounding against your heart, sweeping away.”

18 year old Kristina, her final year in high school; the perfect student, ontime to school everyday, honor classes, straight A’s, and the perfect daughter. Until, during her last summer, she had to spend it with her father; which failed to have any contact with her ever since her parents got divorced, in Albuquerque. During her vacation, she had fallen in love with her fathers neighbor, Adam, the more they hang out, the more they talked, they closer and closer and that day, Adam, introduced her to the Monster.
After the first line, she wanted a second, she craved for the third and died for the fourth. her life had changed, for good.
Everyday she craved for more wanting to keep her high because the fall from crank was devastating; she died of exhaustion, sweat pouring from her pores, hotter and hotter she got until she was burning. The had caught her and won't let her go.
Summer ending and having to go back to her mother, leaving poor Adam behind with her other girlfriend. She had completely change, shes not the Kristina she used to be. She called herself Bre; the totally opposite of Kristina, a daredevil, not giving a s*** on what she says or does, or even what she wears.
The monster was all on her mind, school went downhill, she ditched all her good friends and started hanging out with the wrong people, didn't care what people thought about her, she started drinking, she got high with the monster everyday, she got taken advantage by guys until that one mistake she made changed her life for good. she had life changing choices to make, to let go or stay with the monster.

“ Crank is more than a drug. Its a way of life. You can turn your back. But you can really never walk away. The monster will forever speak to me. And today, its calling me out the door.”

I would recommend this book for teens and young adults because we could connect to it unlike older adults. Reading this book for the first, i would rate it a big 5 stars.
