Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
The Last Spellbinding Journey

The book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was written by J.K. Rowling. This is the last book of her world-famous Harry Potter book series. Both Rowling and the series are award winning, J.K., receiving the Author of the Year award ( and many more ). Aside from the Harry Potter series, has written one other book entitled, The Casual Vacancy. Some look up to Rowling as a role model. It may be because she is a successful writer and independent woman, or it may be the fact that she could be the richest woman in the world if she hadn’t given most of her money to charity. J.K.’s writing is very detailed and intriguing, and it’s most likely to cast a spell on you.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a young adult novel, great for both male and female. The book contains spell-casting duels and deaths, betrayal, and not to mention a teeny bit of romance. It takes place in the mid-1990’s, around the 80’s or 90’s, I’d say. It is about three friends working together to complete a mission. The trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, choose to skip their seventh, and last, year of Hogwarts to set off on a hunt for Horcruxes. For those that do not know, a Horcrux, is a part of someone’s soul kept elsewhere, whether it’d be an object, a person, or an animal.
A year before, Professor Dumbledore ( before he was murdered ) gave Harry a task to complete. Harry, wanting to keep his Ron and Hermione safe, refused to allow them to tag along. Eventually, he gave in and enabled them to travel with him. Although, before leaving, the three attended the wedding of Ron’s older brother, Bill, and his future sister-in-law, Fleur. That’s where most things began to tumble downhill. After fleeing the wedding and having caused damage to a café shop, the trio went into hiding. Afraid of oncoming enemies, they put their wizarding skills to use. Horcruxes weren’t easily found, but they weren’t impossible to find either. After fighting their way through the ‘Battle of Hogwarts’ and witnessing the death of Severus Snape, everything they’ve worked for leads to Harry meeting Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest.
“The Boy Who Lives, comes to die.”
No, no, no, Harry doesn’t die, but the Horcrux in him does… Don’t forget, a Horcrux destroyed also means a part of Voldemort’s soul has been destroyed as well. Thinking he is gone forever, Voldemort brings Harry to the rubble, of what was Hogwarts, and announces Harry’s “death” to everyone. Then, causing all the students, professors and Death Eaters to be dumbfounded, Harry gets onto his feet and tries casting a spell on the last Horcrux. Unfortunately, he misses. Voldemort, appalled by Harry’s resurrection, casts spell after spell to finally kill Harry Potter.
In the book, you learn of a mother’s love for her children, what evil-doers do for power, and how others cope with the deaths of their beloved. The willpower and bravery Harry and his companions presented shows you that some people are willing to risk their lives to save others. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a very entertaining and intriguing novel. It’s filled with captivating battles and is full of bravery, love, and friendship. If you’ve read the whole series, the last book takes an emotional turn, and will probably make you watery-eyed. All in all, the book will definitely impact you someway, somehow, and this magical, spell-binding book will always sit on my bookshelf.
