Title: Mocking Jay
Author: Suzanne Collins
Four Stars

The book Mocking Jay was written by Suzanne Collins. Ms. Collins was born on August 10, 1962 in Hartford, Connecticut. She is the daughter of an Air Force pilot. Her family moved around a lot when she was young. The key turning point in this story was when the main character decided to be the leader of the rebellion.

This story took place in districts one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, and thirteen. The main characters were Katniss, Peta, Prim, Gale, Katniss’s mom, President Snow, and Haymitch. This story took place in the districts. It also took place in the battle fields which eventually leaked into the districts. It also took place in the capital.

There was a big problem in this story. The districts were over powered by the capital. Most of the districts were treated horrible. The people in the districts were poor and starving. They wanted to fight back against the capital but were afraid to because they thought that if they lost they would all die because the capital would give them no food.

District thirteen started the rebellion. They needed the other districts to get involved if they wanted to win the war. So they got Katniss to be their leader so the other districts would get involved. The theme was don’t let the bigger and stronger person push you around. This theme is like a bully a bully is normally a big mean person and they pick on the smaller and weaker people. But when the little weak people rally together they can take on the big bully.

The author’s tone in this book is she does not like the bigger stronger people picking on the smaller and weaker people. After district thirteen got Katniss to their leader they got the other districts to join them in the revolution. They were then able to start a large war. I really enjoyed reading this book. This book made me want to keep reading it, that is what I like in a book.
