The amazing book, The Lightning Thief, was written by Rick Riordan. This book is the first one in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Rick Riordan has written the Kane Chronicles, 39 Clues, and many others. He was born on June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas. Rick lives with his wife and two sons, Haley and Patrick.
The Lightning Thief mainly takes place in Long Island, New York. The main characters in the story are Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood. Percy has just finished 6th grade at a boarding school. Some weird, unimaginable things have happened in his 6th grade year. Such as Mrs.Dodds, his math teacher, turning into a monster and trying to kill him.
He goes on vacation with his mother and his best friend Grover meets him at his cabin in Montauk. Long story short he finds out his best friend’s a satyr, his mother dies, and he kills a Minotaur, and then wakes up in a camp. He finds out everything about Greek Mythology is true and his dad is a Greek god. He is undetermined because don’t know who his father is. A few days later at capture the flag he is claimed by Poseidon. “Poseidon, Earth shaker, storm bringer, father of horses, hail Perseus Jackson, son of the sea god”. He then has to go on a quest with Annabeth and Grover to bring back Zeus’s master bolt. They’re given a prophecy then his adventure officially begins.
“You shall go west to face the god that has turned
You shall find what is stolen, and see it safely returned
You shall be betrayed by the one who calls you friend
And you shall fail to save what matter most in the end.”

I really enjoyed The Lightning Thief. It was filled with adventure and humor. I personally could not put the book down. Even when it was my second time reading it, the book was still entertaining. Rick Riordan is an amazing author and did a wonderful job with this book.

All in all, if I were you I would purchase this book. I really enjoyed it and I’m pretty sure you will too. It is worth reading and if I were you I’d read the whole series. There’s still more to come so you can keep reading. Rick Riordan is an amazing author and his books are worth reading.
