April 30, 1945, Germany, Adolf Hitler and his wife, Eva Braun, commit suicide in his bunker. With Berlin being surrounded by the Russians, Arthur Axmann, leader of the Hitler Youth, and other high ranking Nazi members need to flee the city or risk being captured and most likely killed. When he gets out of Berlin, Arthur Axmann attempts to gather all surviving free Nazi members together and start a Fourth Reich in Germany. But Jack Hunter, Counterintelligence agent for America, finds out about this and wants to stop them by any means.
When reading this book, you feel as if you are standing right next to Axmann when Hitler pulls the trigger, taking his own lie. He goes into how every character is feeling, backgrounds to every person you meet and even gives you their official titles in German.
I loved this book and give it 4 stars. The only problem I had with it was that it could be a little abstruse due to all the German words such as Reichsjugendführer which means the leader of the youth and jugend which means youth. What Selby should have done was put the meaning after the German word every time instead of just when you first see the word.
This book will teach you about how Germany could have been ruled by Nazis again if the American CIC (counterintelligence) had failed to arrest and execute the many high ranking Nazis. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about WWII events and post WWII events.
