If you like sci-fi, romance, self-conflict, and action, Divergent is for you! Beatrice Prior a.k.a Tris, is one of the strongest heroines I've met in a LONG time. At first, I was scared to read the book because of the size (about 500 pages) but once you have submerged yourself into the story, it will seem like nothing. At the time I had read it, Roth had not released Insurgent, the second book of the trilogy. I was left feeling hungry and aching for more. Trust me; do not turn this book down!

There is so much happening in this book at once, but let me start from the beginning. About 100 years in the future, Chicago has been torn apart because of war and death. It was split into five different factions, each with their own beliefs and values. These are Abnegation, who believe in selflessness, Candor, who believes in the value of truth, Erudite, who thinks knowledge will fix and heal everything, Amity, who just wants peace and quiet, and finally, the Dauntless, who believe in bravery at all costs. Tris belonged to Abnegation before she made the switch to the dangerous faction named Dauntless. At 16, you take a test before choosing your faction which tells you which one you would do best in. Most just get one, but as we find out, Tris gets three different on her test, making her Divergent. While she goes through the training to become a member of the faction, she is tormented, beaten, and hurt, but she finds her one protector, a trainer named Four. I can’t reveal much more or it will ruin the story, but hopefully this is enough to turn the want of this book into a need.

Divergent was supposed to be for teens who liked the Hunger Games series and others similar to it, but it is entirely its own thing. This is my favorite book, but I will have to admit it was a little slow in some parts. Other times it left me breathless, on the edge of my seat, or even crying. It was written very well and I just have to applaud Veronica *CLAP CLAP WHISTLE*! I love the use of similes and metaphors.

This book is crazy and wild, but all around awesome! I've re-read it about 3 times and can always find new little details. As I had stated earlier, this was written for teenage girls, but many older woman and especially boys/men liked this book and would recommend it. Romance with action is the place to go now a day with dystopian novels, and Divergent pulls it off the best.

My Final Review: Definitely ***** 5 stars! Amazing read for everyone and I would recommend it for sci-fi and romance lovers. Find it anywhere and read it anytime.
