Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel

One day, my brother brought home the new diary of a wimpy kid book. I was happy to see and quickly wanted to read it. Although it is his book, I wanted to read it first because if he reads it first, he would spoil it for me. The book was called Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel.

From all the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, I think that this is one of the ones that aren’t that good. I wouldn’t say it is horrible because some of it was good and some not.

In the beginning, it started off on when Greg was a baby to a toddler to a kid. Apparently, he even remembers when he was still in his mother’s stomach. There he talks about how it was fun in there because all he did was sleep all day and how everything she did while he was in her stomach.

Next was when he was a toddler. There, he talks about how popular he was and how me made the other kids in his play group look like chumps because he had a cool action walker. But after a couple of days, his mom took it away because she read in a parenting magazine that it is harder to learn to walk with an action walker.

Then later in the book, his uncle came to stay over for a long time because he does not have a place to stay because he wasted all his money on tee- shirts that spell Boston the wrong way. While he was here, he helped Greg out with some advice. Apparently, Greg’s dad did not enjoy Greg’s uncle in his house because he thinks that he is a bad influence.

The part where it gets kind of boring is in the middle because that is where they announce that there will be a Valentines dance. Everybody wanted a date but apparently there are more boys than girls at Greg’s school so it was hard for the guys to find dates. Greg’s friend Rowley is part of the school dance committee and Greg’s wingman so he keeps Greg up with the latest news so it is easier for Greg to find a date. Eventually, Greg found one but it doesn’t turn out so well.

In the resolution, Greg really didn’t get to go to the dance with his date because on the ride here Rowley attracted attention to Greg’s date. In addition, all the boys who were acting nice just so they can get a date became back to their normal self and nearly messed up the whole dance. Also, Rowley went out with that girl too. If I were to rate this book out of five stars, I would rate it three-and-a-half out of five.
