I recently read The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan and I thought it was a good book because I didn’t want to put the book down. It didn’t take me long to read the book because it was an easy read but I really liked it. It was suspenseful and had a lot of action and thats what I like about the book.

The book is a fantasy book about Egyptian mythology. In The Red Pyramid Julius Kane, a brilliant Egyptologist, accidentally releases evil, Egyptian god Set and he is captured and trapped underground. It is up to his children, Carter and Sadie, to save the world from Set. One of my most favorite parts in the book was when Julius released Set because it starts in action and it hooks the reader from there.

One of the things I like about The Red Pyramid that it is narrated by both Sadie and Carter so I can here more than one side of the story. I think seeing both perspectives of the story helps with the character development in the book. The only downside is it might make the book go over the same story twice so you feel that it slows down the whole pace of the book. Overall, I think having Carter and Sadie narrating was a good thing and it kept me interested.

Another thing I liked about the book that I thought was different from a lot of books was that instead of the characters writing like that was happening right then it was a recording of what happened in the past. I thought that was really cool because it is really unrealistic that a person would be writing a story while it was happening especially in an action scene. The only downside is that the author sometimes would act like they were in the moment right then and not recording which can confuse the reader.

I think that if you are into mythology or fantasy books this is a good one. I also think that some of Rick Riordan’s books like the Percy Jackson series and The Heroes of Olympus series were better, but if you really like fantasy I suggest reading this book. I really like this book because there was action and good character development and I plan on reading the rest of the books in the series.
