After reading Saving June, by Hannah Harrington, I sobbed. There was closure at the ending, after chapters of uncertainty. I would most certainly recommend this book to any music loving, teenage female. It is a fine piece of fiction that would certainly appeal to this specific group of people, although probably not many outside of the teenage females. I personally enjoyed the book greatly. It truly tugs at the heart, makes you laugh, and even fills you with pure anger at some points.
Harper Scott’s entire world gets turned upside down after her sister, June commits suicide, leaving Harper with only her emotionally broken mother, her emotionally distant father, and her best friend Laney. After years of June saying how she wanted so badly to go to California, Harper decides (without telling her parents) to spread her sister’s ashes in that very place. When the music obsessed Jake Tolan comes into the picture to help them in their travels, chaos ensues as Harper fights the emotional struggles of her life, but with Jake and Laney at her side… Well sometimes that just makes it worse. Harper must accept the fact that her sister is now dead, and will never be seen again. Meeting interesting people along the way, Harper learns to accept the fact that her sister is now dead, and will never be seen again.
