The book the things we hide from the light by lucy score is a long detailed realistic fiction book bouncing off the first book in the series the things we never got over. It is very popular on social media platforms, which convinced me to read it. Readers should read the first book before this one, seeming they are connected and it wont make sense without the details from the first book. You can find the whole series online, Barnes and Noble or most nearby bookstores.

Instead of following the main characters knox, naomi and waylay, this book gives a deeper look into knox’s brother, Nash, and shows his story. The previous characters from the first book are still mentioned a lot and readers are kept updated on their lives.

During the story Nash falls for his new neighbor Lina unexpectedly, although she doesn't want a relationship. They are complete opposites but yet have a very strong connection. Throughout the story you watch their relationship develop along with more attention being brought toward Nash's mental health. The author incorporating more about mental health makes the book heartfelt, emotional, and relatable.

Since Nash is a head policeman there are many stressful situations he deals with to keep his town and family safe. This keeps the book packed with suspense and makes readers want to continue reading.

The switch of main characters throughout the two books was a good idea to keep readers interested. During the first story they put the main characters through a lot and finally towards the end, their lives started settling down and problems were solved. I think instead of introducing a new problem for them and making it repetitive it was smart for the author to turn the main focus to someone the readers recognize but don't know as much about.

Since the book is so long at some points it can feel a bit repetitive and boring if you are easily bored. There is not always something happening in the book and at times it can go chapters without a twist or something interesting happening. I definitely think some chapters could be cut down but overall the story was really good.

I am not a frequent reader and can find it very difficult sometimes to get into a book.
