Drums Girls Dangerous Pie, by Jordan Sonneblick, is a realistic fiction book about a kid named Steven who is the protagonist, and he is living his best life, but things take a turn for the worse when Steven’s brother Jeffrey gets sick they don't have enough money to get by. The hospital bills are climbing rapidly, and the dad is not there a lot, we learn how Steven goes from hating to loving his little brother Jeffrey. Steven plays in the all-city jazz band, and he is the starting drummer for the biggest concert of his life. He has lots of stress in his life and emotions, and he just needs to escape. He has a crush on the most popular girl in the school, and she doesn't even know he exists from straight A’s to B-.

My opinion on the book is I would give it a 10 out of 10. It's the best book I've ever read. I love how the book jumps right into drama. It hooked me very early on when Jeffrey got hurt. Then Steven's life is going bad, but he learns how to deal with it.  It was easy to tell who the protagonist was and the antagonist. I would recommend this book to a 6th grade class because it has many important details in the book, but also I think that a 6th grader will understand what Steven is going through.
