All American Boys Book Review
Think about how you would feel if you were smashed to the ground by a police officer or having to sacrifice your life to be under the shadow of your father. All American Boys, by Jason Reynolds & Brendon Kiely, is a wonderful realistic fiction book to read, is set in fictional Springfield USA. The story is about two boys, Rashad and Quinn. Rashad is a 17-year old boy who goes to a store and drops a bag of chips and that's how it all starts. It really didn't matter what he said or if he even said anything, even if he said that it was an accident he was still getting smashed to the ground by a police officer. Quinn was a white kid who saw the whole thing at first but he didn't tell anyone. When this news gets around school, people start to choose sides, and Quinn doesn't know what side to choose: his best friend's side or Rashad’s side.
I personally loved this book. It was really interesting and it was very detailed. I always wanted to go read my book and see what happened next. I always wanted to come back and read this book because I could relate to the message of taking risks. I loved Reynolds and Kiely’s style of writing; I think that it was very clever to have two totally different authors collaborated to write two stories about the same problem. I think we can all relate to the message of taking risks because we do it every day. I would totally recommend this book to any teen and I think that they would love it as much as I did.
