The Fault in Our Stars Opinion

The Fault in Our Stars is a young adult fiction, romance novel by John Greene. It is a book about a young teenage girl who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and she goes to a cancer support group. Hazel is 16 and is quite hesitant to go but she soon realizes that it was just the right thing to do. Hazel meets a youthful boy named Augustus Waters, who has had a rare form of bone cancer but just recently has gotten the all clear. This forces them to face up to the pain of romance, of the failure to discover satisfactory answers or fulfilling endings. This is often the romantic journey the story and its characters take upon us. This book follows Augustus and Hazel and the occasions that result as they meet, fall in love and try their best to stay together through all of the rough times. When I first saw the movie, I automatically fell in love with it and it was almost on repeat every week. I later found out that there had been a book written way before the movie even came out and I had to get my hands on it.

When I first started reading the book I could already tell that it was written differently than the actual movie. They both had the same idea and the same characters but, the characters were portrayed a lot more differently in the book than in the movie but you could still kind of figure out at the end that they were pretty much the same characters.  This book really shows what love can do to people in a positive way and how it impacts people's lives for the better and for the worse. When love comes together for a very sensitive and emotional reason, it has more of an effect on the readers and for the characters. My opinion is that the book  definitely goes more indebted and gets into the actual emotion and feeling of the two characters' connection.

Hazel is a very sweet and contemplated girl. But when her mother starts noticing that she is starting to feel depressed she sends her to a support group that meets every Wednesday which Augustus was also a part of. Hazel catched Augustus staring at which he later mentioned he was doing it because she was beautiful and loves to stare at beautiful people. When Hazel witnesses Augustus pulling out a cigarette and putting it in between his lips she explains to him how he should smoke and that it's not good especially for his condition. The support group brought both of them together and it shows how something that could seem boring turns into something that you can never forget because it shows a very memorable moment since these 2 got together.

The plot point of this book is pretty clear. Unfortunately the love of Hazel and Augustus dies. The death of Augustus is something that Hazel can take as a learning experience about herself and her role in the world that she is living in. She realizes that her closeness with Augustus was worth it and she would never regret it.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is really into romance. This book really shows the true romantic connection between these 2 young teens and tells readers that life is really unpredictable when it comes to love so when you have the chance you should just take your shot.
