Nelson Madela's Favorite African Folktales-A Book Review
Nelson Mandela's Favorite African Folktales is a book full of stories and myths from Africa. It is filled with funny folktales from Tanzania to Nigeria. Stories in this book include "The Enchanting Song of the Magical Bird", "The Cat Who Came Indoors", and "Mmadipetsane", along with others. These tales usually tell about some wacky creatures doing unthinkable things and going on absurd adventures, while some stories teach an important lesson.
I especially enjoyed the story titled “Mmutla and Phiri”. This story is about a hyena (Phiri) and a hare (Mmutla) that both make medicines for all the other animals and so they have a rivalry. Because of this rivalry, the hare challenges the hyena to a competition to test their abilities and see who is the better medicine man.
I rate this book an 8/10 because it has pretty good storytelling. I would recommend this book to all ages, but these stories most likely will be enjoyed by younger audiences.

My mom and English teacher gave me an assignment to write a couple of reviews this summer to sharpen my writing skills, and I chose this book. I hope this review gives people a better understanding of the book so that they can make a more informed choice if deciding whether or not to read it.
