Fever 1793, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is a book is about a fourteen-year-old girl named Matilda whose mom has yellow fever, the fever is a very deadly disease. That caused her to move away from her home. Her grandfather moved away with her because he did not want to send her alone. She went on a journey with her granddad to a bunch of different places. The themes of the book are survival and family because Matilda has to survive yellow fever and there were a lot of parts about her mom.

I think Anderson did a really good job writing the book. The style of her writing because I could never write as well as her, and her writing was very precise and was very good. I would recommend this book to 12 and up because it has some gory parts to it that would not be good for younger kids. I wish in class I could read a different book by Anderson. The book was probably my favorite book that I've read in a while.
