“Are you a watcher or a player?” Little Vee is tired of being cast in the shadows of her best friend, Sydney. Everyone thinks she is an innocent and shy girl, until she takes a risk that ruins her life.

This captivating and intriguing book follows Vee’s journey as she completes risky dares, meets new people, and faces the consequences. The new game NERVE is blowing up everywhere. It’s a game where contestants sign up on a website to do harmless dares in exchange for massive prizes. After a boy teases her about never taking any chances, Vee signs up as a player. She quickly gets distracted by all the glorious prizes that she doesn’t realize the dark turn the game has taken on her life. With new fans worldwide watching her every move, losing is not an option. Will she stop playing and listen to her friends or will she keep earning grand prizes that could complete her future?

The author of this story does a very good job of keeping the readers hooked on the story. However, I felt that none of the characters really stood out to me. I didn’t feel an emotional attachment to any but still enjoyed following their story. This is absolutely a good book for teens because it is fast-paced and has love interests. The characters are young, and the moral of the story is important for teenagers to hear.

Despite the flaws, this book has a very valuable lesson. It taught me to be safe online and to be able to see the red flags in a bad situation. In the end, Vee understands what went wrong and has learned to not trust everything she sees.
