Born as the youngest and only daughter of a royal family, a young girl Alexandra, also known by her brothers as Alex, she wonder why she is unlike her family in beauty. Deep inside she knows that she is not an ordinary girl she is like her mother following the ancestral ways of life, even if her father is against it. Concerning this her dad said “ He has no hope of marrying me off to advantage,...”(Marriott 16). She is used to this and don’t really worry much because there are more males that he thinks would want to marry her.

Alexandra is a girl who learns how to do things and feel her surroundings like her ancestrals did before her. She is brave and ready to follow her own way of life even if others are against it. This type of story teaches us that we should be ourselves and follow our own way of life and to not be scared of what others think of but it’s good to have some advice if we want to follow our own life. She is the one that shows more of what she feels and how she goes through all that hardship.

I recommend this to children who are 12 years old and older because if they are younger they might not understand some words but despite this everything is ok for anyone to read. My reason why is because during that age they might or most likely interested on fantasy, sci-fiction or magic. This book also has its ups and down, but it truly is an interesting book in its own unique way. It talks a little the story is past like its own history when her grate grate grate grate grandmother “For a long time, wise woman have been leaders of men. But just as seasons must change, nature of men cannot remain the same…”(Marriott 30).

What I liked about this book is that it has some good lessons that we can learn from for real life. Also, because it is sci-fiction and has many fantasy things and magic which I’m interested in. and it makes you wonder and think you want to learn more.
