Fantasy

Dracula by Bram Stoker is truly one of the best books I have ever read.  The book uses just the right amount of fantasy and history. Stoker does an excellent job of guiding the reader through the story, making them feel like they are actually there reading  young Jonathan Harker's journal, learning about what he has seen during his stay at Dracula's castle. The whole novel is extremely descriptive, and keeps you updated on current events through journal entries and personal letters sent by important characters. He give you insight into the story without actually telling you what’s  happening, all you know is what the journal entries tell you, this leaves you with little blank spots when your not sure what's going on with one character because it skipped to another character's point of view. Each entry has a different viewpoint, this builds up suspense which fits the tone of the book perfectly. The twists and turns in this novel are absolutely genius and made the thought of vampires almost believable. This book is not as far fetched as other vampire themed fiction books you might read today. For example,  there are no friendly vampires, this isn't twilight.Not only is this book extremely descriptive but it also gives you little life lessons which are worked into these letters, “ we learn from failure not success”. Stokers writing is amazing and I would recommend this book to any horror fan who wants to read a true vampire themed novel.
