Milk and Honey is book of poetry. It is written about the author's feelings on certain topics she has experienced. She discusses love, loss, and sexual abuse. She’s also a big advocate for feminity. I would recommend this book to any girl in highschool or a relationship. It discusses many topics that are easy for me to relate to. Rupi Kaur's writing style is very simple. She writes short poems with strong emotion and great detail. She also includes small hand drawn illustrations. Some people complain about how she doesn’t use uppercase and lowercase letters when it's appropriate, but I think it makes it simple and easy to read.

Rupi Kaur explained that “to write punjabi means to use gurmukhi script. and within this script there are no uppercase or lowercase letters. all letters are treated the same. i enjoy how simple that is. how symmetrical and how absolutely straightforward. i also feel there is a level of equality this visuality brings to the work. a visual representation of what i want to see more of within the world: equalness.”

A downside to her short poems is that the book moves kind of fast. Compared to other novels I've read, this book doesn't have a long story. Most books include a rising action, climax, and a falling action but Milk and Honey doesn't give much of a story. It leaves you inspired and satisfied.
