Kwik Trip Food Review
When I first walked into Kwik trip two years ago, all I knew about it was that it had cheap milk and a larger food selection than your typical gas station. Honestly, all I came in for was a chocolate milk, but Kwik Trip’s food selections blew me away. I ended up walking out with far more food than I intended and I have not looked back since. Kwik Trip has taught me not to overlook a place’s food just because they also sell gas.
The first food item I tried from Kwik Trip were the “Dunkers,” Kwik Trip’s specialty donuts most similar to Dunkin Donuts Munchkins, but full size. They come in packs of 6 with chocolate, blueberry, lemon and vanilla flavors. All are topped with a light glaze which adds just a bit of extra flavor. My personal favorites are the chocolate and blueberry dunkers. The chocolate dunkers have a light, flakey chocolate flavor, which is not too overpowering, and goes amazingly well with the glaze on top. The blueberry dunker blends the flavor of the blueberry and the donut to perfection with the glaze also adding a boost of flavor.
“Glazers” are another popular pick when it comes to donuts at Kwik Trip. They are very simlar to plain Krispy Kreme donuts due to their generous glaze on the outside and soft texture on the inside. I would recommend sharing these as the glaze gets to be to much for me after one or two. However, these are a great snack on the go or to bring into class.
Kwik Trip’s chicken tenders stand out above the rest. Coming in packs of 4, 6 and 12; They are juicy, flakey and packed with flavor. They are affordable and when compared to fast food places in the area, they are better than most. Yes, they are 100% white meat too.
When it comes to the hot food bar, I would highly recommend their large crispy chicken sandwich, their burgers, and grilled cheese. The large crispy chicken sandwich is my personal favorite—a well breaded piece of savory, juicy chicken, on a warm bun. If ever in a rush, this is an incredible snack for only $4.49. Kwik Trip has a variety of different burgers too. They have a quarter pounder, third pounder, sliders, quarter pounders with bacon, and more. The meat is surprisingly flavorful and will fill you up, all for $2 to $5. Finally, Kwik Trip grilled cheese surprised me. When I saw a grilled cheese in a bag, I just expected soggy bread and flavorless cheese. But it was quite the opposite—the bread was crispy and extremely flavorful, and there was that perfect amount of cheese. This is definitely a late night favorite of mine.
Kwik Trip is open 24 hours. Being a night-owl, especially on the weekends, Kwik Trip is a consistent stop throughout my weekend. Me and my friends stop there all the time for a “Kwik”, hot, quality snack and something to drink at least once a week.
Overall, Kwik Trip opened my eyes to gas station food, and has taught me not to overlook a place’s food just because they also sell gas. Whether you are in a rush, looking for a late-night snack or looking for a great deal, Kwik Trip is the place for you.
