First Light of Day
The first rays of sun greet the barren land
The light that I wait for every day
A warm cup of coffee held in my hand
Helps the coldness of the night go away
Because during the night, my brain runs wild
The thoughts in my head seem to have no end
I want to relax, be peaceful and mild
No matter how tired, I can’t amend.
I’ll remember things from times long ago
Things that I want to do or never said
Some good things, some bad things, I never know
What that night decides to bring to my head
Even though the night is a time to lay
I’ll be waiting for the first light of day
