Hidden Darkness
This sunny earth is never as it seems
Smiling men harbor hatred in their hearts
Gentle peace spilling blood in flowing streams
When darkness prospers, all goodness departs
Pure light is alien but dark our friend
Our light is passing, dark everlasting
Evil created on earth shall descend
Sins like deep shadows before us casting
Paths countless there are leading one astray
Each beautiful until true nature found
Of choking shrubs all putrid with decay
No route away, dark clouds death-filled surround
The eyes with which you see the foolish world
Never view fears that soon will be unfurled

This piece has a moody, despairing air. I wrote it while lamenting the fact that even though the world around me appeared to be beautiful and innocent, hidden evil lay just underneath. And I think that's a feeling all of us have had at one point of time or another: That everything we see around us is just a facade.
