A Striving Soul
She dreams of tranquil nights and blazing days;
When striving, wishing, aching will be done.
Her future glimmers through uncertain haze,
A place to dance with stars and ride the sun.
This quest to see is what has made her blind.
Her spirit’s lost – this is her only goal.
Each seeking limb, a shadow in her mind;
But no! It is the slow sale of her soul.
For running only ever ends in dust;
The only ones who live are those who stop.
And every star will melt and turn to rust,
And falling’s all there is to do on top.
Each day, a journey ends, but no one’s won;
For maybe, we’re not meant to walk the sun.
