What I Lost
When he walked away I lost a lot more than just him.
I lost the happiness I had finally begun to feel.
I lost the ability to make love without the lights being dim.
I lost the self-respect I had finally allowed myself to have.
I lost the ability to deal with my problems.
I lost the ability to genuinely laugh.
I lost my self-esteem that he had worked to raise.
I lost my faith in being “good enough” for someone.
I lost the way he looked at me with that gaze.
I lost that feeling of importance.
I lost the way I felt when I comforted him.
But most of all, I lost my best romance.
